Gov Yahaya Bello: Congratulated by the repayment by the World Bank of the surplus funds of 4.63 million dollars

The World Bank congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi for repaying $ 4.63 million of excess funds under the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management (NEWMAP) project.

The World Bank congratulated Bello in a letter of appreciation signed by its regional director, Shubham Chaudhuri, describing this step as a sign of good leadership.

According to the World Bank, the Governor’s action has enabled the organization to extend its projects to other States facing deficit funds and to extend the closing date of its projects.

Part of the letter reads: “I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the transfer to Plateau State of the surplus project funds, in the amount of USD 4.63 million, which were available. on the designated NEWMAP account of the State.

“This action was made possible thanks to the leadership of Your Excellency, and its opportunity helped the Bank decide to extend the project closing date from June 30, 2021 to June 30, 2022.

“The surplus funds returned will ensure that other states facing a fund shortfall are able to complete their civil works, while Kogi state is focused on completing its approved ongoing works.”

“We look forward to your continued leadership in monitoring the progress and completion of this work.

“We hope that the project can be carried out in your state, while achieving the goal and helping to transform lives and reduce poverty.

“We also take this opportunity to ask you to expedite the issuance of a required comfort letter as well.”

The World Bank also appreciated Governor Bello for his support for NEWMAP activities in Kogi State.
