A$AP Rocky Calls Ex-Friend Relli’s Lawsuit for ‘Extortion’ Shooting

A$AP Rocky has responded to his former friend’s lawsuit where he accuses him of being jealous and trying to extort him for his shooting allegations.

According to the legal documents, Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, claims the artist is a “failed shakedown” attempt by A$AP Relli, whom they accuse of fabricating the shooting allegation because he is jealous of his former friend. A$AP Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, is separately facing criminal charges for the alleged November 2021 shooting in Hollywood. Relli is separately suing the rapper for damages for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress using boilerplate language.

“Rocky didn’t shoot him in any way,” Tacopina told Rolling Stone as he called the criminal case “just a classic, blatant attempt at extortion.”

According to Tacopina, Relli, real name Terell Ephron, allegedly physically assaulted Rocky during a face-to-face encounter. The attorney claims the two men were at odds with Relli “harassing” Rocky for money before the incident. The attorney says Relli’s lawsuit is based on a fabricated shooting allegation, even though police say they have CCTV footage showing Rocky during the incident and running away afterward.

A$AP Rocky’s legal team filed their defense Thursday as they respond to the civil lawsuit in which he denied all of Relli’s claims.

“Respondent Defendant generally denies each allegation in the Complaint, and specifically denies that Plaintiff was harmed in any way as a result of any act or omission of Respondent Defendant,” said the response filed in the Los Angeles County Superior. Court read.

A$AP Rocky’s response outlines several tort defenses he relies on, including contributory negligence, where he says Relli’s injuries “were caused solely, directly and proximately by the acts negligent and/or intentional omissions or omissions” of others and that Relli himself “failed to use reasonable care to avoid the consequences of harm”.

ASAP Rocky’s response contradicts what Relli’s lawsuit claims that Rocky asked him to meet in Hollywood on November 6, 2021, and he started the verbal altercation before Rocky pulled out a semi-handgun. -automatic and fires multiple shots in Relli’s direction. Relli is represented by attorneys Jamal Tooson and Brian Hurwitz.

Meanwhile, Rocky has pleaded not guilty to two counts of using a semi-automatic firearm to assault Relli. He is currently on a $550,000 bond. If convicted of the criminal offence, he faces up to nine years in prison.

At the time of the ‘Fashion Filla’ rapper’s arrest in May this year, he was expecting the birth of his baby boy, whom he shares with billionaire businesswoman Rihanna.
