Bengaluru, Karnataka News Live Updates: The ten-day long monsoon session of eThe Karnataka Legislature which will start in Vidhana Soudha here from Monday is likely to be stormyas opposition parties prepared to corner the BJP government led by Basavaraj Bommai over a host of issues such as corruption charges, alleged scams, rains and infrastructure problems, among others. This session, which will continue until September 23, is important because it comes at a time when political parties have started preparations for the Assembly elections, which are expected to be held by March-April next year. .

Meanwhile, top Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Sunday challenged Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to an open discussion on corruption at a time and place of his choosing. Calling the current administration a ‘40% sarakar’ filled with ‘looters and crooks’, the former chief minister, in a series of tweets, pointed out that BJP leaders claiming they would expose the scandals of his government, challenged them to do so. In other news, Karnataka government will hike the solatium for forest martyrs family members from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on Sunday. Speaking after paying homage to the martyrs at an event as part of the National Forest Martyrs’ Day-2022, Bommai said his predecessor BS Yediyurappa raised solatium from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh . The government will ensure the appointment of family members of martyrs on compassionate grounds and their welfare with utmost sympathy, he said. “You protect the forest, the government will protect you,” he said.
